Welcome back! (almost). And Happy Two-Zero-One-Three 🙂
As many of you enjoy the remaining days of your break and begin your preparations for Spring semester, I would like to share a few important announcements with you from the MCTC Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL).
January 11th – come prepared!
On Friday, January 11th, we will gather together for an All Faculty Professional Development Day. Here is a reminder of the schedule for the day: https://mctcctl.wordpress.com/2012/12/11/january-11-opening-day-for-spring-2013/
In preparation for this day, please reflect and act on the following:
- If you completed the SMART goals during Fall 2012 Opening Days, do you remember the goal(s) you set. How are they coming along?
- What are your expectations for professional development days? What can the CTL expect from you? Is it possible to arrive Friday morning without expectations?
- During Fall 2012 Opening Days, we introduced the idea of the Seven Revolutions (aka- MCTC Teaching Themes). If you missed hearing about them, not to worry, we’ll go over them again on Friday morning. In the meantime, please take a look at the themes (via the link provided above) and consider whether or not you are teaching/assessing any of these themes in any of your classes. Think about assignments or lessons you use to address the themes, and come on Friday prepared to share examples.
- Please send an email reminder to your students (using the D2L classlist) if you will be available in your office during the All Campus Office Hour from 1pm-2pm on Friday.
Faculty Development Committee – join us!
The faculty development committee helps plan Professional Development Days (including the next one coming up Feb 22nd) and other CTL programming. If you have ideas (and we know you do) for programming, or would like to be involved with faculty development efforts in any way, please email us (email@example.com) and let us know! If you want to join the committee, be sure to say so and we’ll send you meeting appointments/reminders and agendas in advance. You can join the committee even if you are not able to attend all the meetings. You are also invited to provide input on programming outside of the committee by meeting with CTL co-leaders during our office hours or by appointment.
